why isn't safari 6.04 showing up in the update section of the mac app store?

Yeah, I haven't seen it either. Something tells me it was pulled because of problems. Safari 6.0.4 isn't available on the Downoad page either.

The Java update is also missing and was missing from the Download page as well but has since returned.

I'm also waiting for the Epson Printer Drivers to show up. They are on the Download page but still not in the App Store.

I'll just hold off for now until Apple figures it out.

I noticed the same. Yesterday I downloaed the new Safari for Snow Leopard en both the Java updates for Snow Leopard and Lion/mountainLion. But no Safari 6.0.4

When I do a webseach for "Safari 6.0.4" I find dozens of sites claiming that Safari 6.0.4 was released. Even Apple tells that it is released. But no mention that the release was withdrawn.

After login with admin rights, I was able to download the package.

At this moment, I think, nobody can't see this update without admin rights. (I was able to verify at my iMac and my MacBook Air)

I switched from a my standard account to an administrative account and checked for updates and then they showed up in the App Store. I didn't update yet though. I switched back to my standard account and checked for updates again to see what would happen and there they were so I was able to complete the updates from my standard account.

In my case I also just upgraded from Lion to Miuntain Lion this past weekend. I just did an upgrade in-place over top of Lion, usually I do clean installs with major upgrades. When I switched to the Administrative account, this was the first time since the upgrade, there was a dialogue box on screen asking me if I wanted to log in to my Apple ID. I just clicked continue in this case to continue to my administrative account with out logging in.

Thanks Gino. I indeed needed to do the check from the administratios account to find the update. Also here, I did not update but, switched back to the user account and the update was now also found from there. The search was much faster, so it looks like the found results by the administrator were cached somehow and could be used by the useraccount.

I have a related, but somewhat different problem. On my MacBook, I got a pop-up saying that updates are available, but I was in the middle of something and canceled the update. When I went back later into the app store to check on the updates, it now says "No updates available", but Safari its still the old version as is iPhoto etc. Somehow canceling must have messed up the update process. I checked with different user ids, rebooted, no luck. Anybody any ideas how to reset it?

Figured it out: instead of starting the AppStore and checking on updates, I opened "About this Mac" and started "Software Update..." from the pop-up window. Now the system did a re-scan and found the updates again. Done.
