Ipod wont connect (64 bit Itunes)

I plugged my Ipod in and as usual beeped changed to battery background but then it says the software of mi ipod wont connect because i don't have 64-bit Itunes, So i have to uninstall itunes and reinstall 64-bit Itunes. i plug in my ipod and it says the same thing. what do i do?
