I've restored from time machine backup to 10 days in the past.Time Machine as now performed 3 back ups of over 200 gb per back up this is filling up the back up drive 1.5 tb. Can I remove the last 10 days of my back ups, then restart time machine from that point

Pondini's notes are well worth reviewing.   Certainly before you begin to think about deleting the unwanted.   Deleting TM backups can lead to big trash problems. http://pondini.org/TM/  Troubleshooting.html Pondini FAQ

Time Machine will take care of deleting your old backups to make room. That's a built in function of Time Machine.
