iCloud/Photo Stream Uploads Not Working

I have downloaded the iCloud Control Panel program for my laptop and when I take a picture on my iPhone it appears on my laptop after a few seconds. Great.

There is a folder called Uploads and when I had my iPhone 4, I just dragged and dropped photos in there and they appeared in my Photo Stream. Now I have an iPhone 5, it doesn't work. Does anyone have any idea why?

I have already been to that help page and have made sure that all settings on the phone and on the laptop are correct/activated to allow Photo Stream to work, and like I said, this was working perfectly fine when I had my iPhone 4, but now that I have an iPhone 5, it only downloads photos to my laptop, I can't upload photos from my laptop to the iPhone like before.

Phone is at 98% battery. I do not have any photos on my phone as it is brand new. I am only trying to move one picture.

Like I have already said, I have followed all the steps in that article, (it was the first thing I did before I came on here) and still no success.

This was all working fine up until Tuesday when I got my iPhone 5. I doubt using a different phone would instantly make my network settings etc. all change. It's not related to my computer/router, it's something to do with the phone itself. Resetting it hasn't worked either.

When I take a picture it shows up in Camera Roll and Photo Stream. If I check on my laptop the picture has also been downloaded to the Photo Stream folder on there.

But there is another folder on the laptop called "Uploads" (which the iCloud Control Panel program installed) which allows me to put pictures in to and they get sent back to my iPhone to appear in it's Photo Stream. This was working fine on my iPhone 4 earlier in the week, but since I have started using my iPhone 5, it won't send the pictures for some reason.

And that is why I told you that there is no problem with the phone, but you are more then welcome to pursue that theory.

While any device is getting information from icloud it has to keep authenticated connection through the whole time. That is the reason I asked you to check your security on your computer, cause that connection is taking longer to upload then download. As with any advice, I may very well be wrong and you absolutely do not have to listen to my suggestions.

You associating that problem with changes of the phone, what you do not think of is the fact that your security changes every day. Updates on your antivirus, corporate firewalls.

How can it be a problem with the laptop / router / iCloud when nothing has been changed on them and has been for over a year? I doubt the one change that has messed the whole thing up for me just happened to happen on the same day I changed my phone! The firewall and anti-virus have had regular updates, sometimes daily, since God knows when and not one of them has ever interfered with how things worked. It's only when I changed phones it did, ergo the problem must lie with the phone in some way.

I seem to have had a tiny breakthrough. I put a picture into the Photo Stream folder instead and it seems to have uploaded it from there, but it doesn't on the Uploads folder. So have Apple changed the process for the iCloud Control Panel and not told anyone? 😕 😠

they actually changed and told the whole world, but two of us didn't catch up to that:

"On a PC with iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later, open a Windows Explorer window. Select Photo Stream under Favorites. Open My Photo Stream. Click the "Add photos" button. Select photos to import to My Photo Stream, and then click Open."

And here is the source:

BTW that article was created/updated about 9 days ago. We probably should not blame ourselves that much. 😉

Strange how in the program itself, if you change the destination of the Photo Stream folder, it still created 3 new folders, "Photo Stream", "Shared" and "Upload"...

Ah well, at least I can get it working now. Thanks for your assistance. 🙂
