Blocking spam calls

How can I block calls from unwanted sources? I have registered with the government Do Not Call list, and have even submitted one particular number to the government for specific investigation and action, but I still am getting calls from the specific number.

All I want to do is block that number.

iPhone 5, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Contact your carrier and see if they offer call blocking. If the calls are consistently from the same number, you can create a contact for that caller, assign a silent ringtone and a custom vibration of 'none'. At least they won't annoy you quite as much.

You could also file suit against them in small claims court. If you have specifically told them to place you on their do not call list and they continue to call, you may be entitled to up to $1,500 per call.

I just add the number to my contacts list, assign a silent ring tone to it, and ignore it when it comes up. You can google iPhone Silent Ring tone to find one if you think this will work for you.

It is a pain to get around the people that ignore the don't call list and just use a deamon dialer to call phone numbers at random.

That's why I have just got a Samsung s4 all my friends have gone over to android for this reason I really prefer apple interface for ease of use but they have to many restrictions , I think that is why so many people are going over to android and other devices for call blocking purposes I get to many calls from Tele marketers and samsung is so easy a few taps and there blocked permanently plus you can schedule calls from work ie only receive calls from work members between 8 and 4 and friends can only call from 4 to 9 at night but family members can get through any time it's amazing, and block text and notifications to, I hope they have this feature on new iPhone because interface takes some getting use to on samsung. And everything is backed up between ipad and iPhone without me having to do anything which really helps.
