Migration Assistant on Macbook Pro with Retina Display

If you are transferring via wifi it will take many many hours.

Ethernet is much faster, but that's no help to you now, is it?

If both Macs have ethernet capability, absolutely yes. The procedure is exactly the same as wifi.

ok....you can use an external usb hard drive if you have one handy - copy the files to the hard drive from your pc then connect it to your Macbook then copy it over.

Sorry about that - still cannot keep track of what the new Macs have and do not have.

There is such a thing as a thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor. $29 from Apple.

the only way is either wireless or usb since Retina Macbook Pro does not have a Ethernet Port.

or you can use via SD CARD - since you have one in your Macbook - hopefully you have one in your PC.

transfer will be slower than usb.

On the Mac side you can Force Quit.

Command + Option + esc (three keys together).

Select Migration Assistant and click Force Quit.

Suggest you find whatever fragments were transferred, and erase them off the MBP before restarting the transfer.
