My iPhone 5 will not connect automatically to my WiFi router. I have to connect manually. The Router uses no security (live out in country) - all other devices (computers, Kindle's etc.) connect automatically. How do I get my iPhone 5 to connect automatically

I downloaded and installed the latest software for the iPhone 5 (Version 6.1.3) - the version originally installed was 6.1.2. Same problem exists - iPhone will not automatically connect to my home WiFi. Even after I select my network and it connects. If I turn WiFi off and then back on again, it will not automatically connect. The iPhone screen states "Known networks will be joined automatically. If no known networks are available, you will have to manually select a network." How do I get the iPhone to work as specified above? Thanks.
