What is the percentage that Apple takes for every app/song sold?

What is the percentage that Apple takes for every app/song sold?


For example, a song is selling for $0.99 ($1.00), does Apple take 50%, which is $0.50 or what?

And how is the rest of the money distributed?

Music: For most major record artists Apple keeps 34¢ of a 99¢ song. The remainder is mostly kept by the record companies. The recording artist gets what little is left (about 10¢).


Apps: Apple's commission is 30%.
