I cannot transfer music from i pod ti mac

I have an I pod nano 3rd generation; I have in it a Music Library coming from my elder hard disk that cracked one year ago; I want to syncronize it with my new hard disk, but I also want to copy the old music from the I pod on my new mac.

I tried to follow the instructions given from the tutorial for I pod 3rd generation, but when I click on I pod icon on the desktop its music library is not visible, so i cannot drag an drop it in the mac's Music Library, as suggested on the tutorial.

Can someone help me please?

My i tunes version is 11.02
