I have a lexmark wireless printer, it works when the cable is connected but not wirelessly. I have downloaded the software that my imac uses but still no wireless printer any suggestions?

I have a lexmark x4690 (all in one) it works with the cable attached but will not connect wirelessly, i may be doing something wrong as i am a new user of the Mac Computer. Any sugestions please..
