Q: Restart Problem MacPro1,1

Hello

I have a macpro1,1 with 8Gb RAM and 500GB which has problems to restart. After a restart the mac doesn't boot and internal it is clicking.

The mac has this problem while running with 10.6.8. It has no other problems. So I first replaced the Original 230Gb Drive with the new and empty 500Gb. The Problem is still the same.

A workaround I found ist to shutdown the mac and then start. So it works fine. (every normal restart fails)

Then I decided to install 10.7. The first install takes the normal 5-6 min and then automaticly restart. But my macpro is then hangig. Then I forced a shutdown with the start button. After the boot it goes for it second install for 20 min but at the end it fails to restart again. After a force shutdown the assistant starts normaly.

I suppose it is an hardware issue. PSU? Any ideas how to locate the problem?

While working all programs runs smootly without any crashing.

Regards

Gérard
