When I am at work I have DND on, but if i want to quickly check messages the sounds come through when I am on the phone. I lowered the volume all the way but I was wondering if there is a way that sounds wont come through at all if youre phone is unlocked?

Exactly. DND only works when the phone is locked.
I know the above but the sounds still come through when the phone is unlocked. Its ridiculous there is no way to turn sounds off completely when your phone is unlocked!

How do I do that? Isn't mute just for calls? Sorry, I am a new Iphone user...

no, mute prevents your phone from making sounds
thats great. DND is useless to me then bc I dont want sounds during the day whatsoever.

Might I suggest you read the iphone manual or take a look at the quick guides which is bookmard in safari.

My question was answered already. thats what this support forum is for.

Why dont you read the whole thread bc obviously u dont see that 2 ppl told me to mute my phone so again my question was answered. I dont need the guide.

If you had read the guide, you wouldn't haven't mistaken Do Not Disturb as muting the phone. Got it!!!
