Q: printer sharing over a network

I have a MacBook running Liion and an IMac running Snow Leopard over an Apple Extreme network.  I'm currently using an HP D2600 printer connected by USB to my IMac.  How do configure the settings to enable me to send documents/emails, etc from my MacBook to the printer?  I've tried turing on "Sharing" on both computers but I'm missing something.  For some reason I'm still not able to get my printer to print when I'm using my MacBook.

Hi,

 

As you asked I'm getting back to you.  My problem seems to have been solved and I've printed several pages from my Mac Book to the printer attached to my IMac.  I have a new HP printer on the way (HP 7525) which I'll attach to the MacBook and hope that doesn't mess something up.
