In Windows 8, brightness on my MBP 15" (Mid 2011) is at about 50% of usual maximum

I'm running Windows 8 on a bootcamped (v5.0) MBP 15" (Mid 2011). At the max brightness setting the actual brightness is about 50% of usual maximum (as experienced in the Mac OS). Any suggestions?
