How do I change screen resolution for HP Compaq LA2205wg above allowed setting?

Can you change the radio button from "Best for..." to "Scaled" in System Preferences > Display?

Have you made sure that mirroring is NOT enabled?

can you post a screen shot of you Display options?

Also please clarify your exact MBP model to have a look in its specs, some 13" laptops have a native resolution of 1440x900 which may explain the exact behavior.

Thanks for responding. I am using a Macbook Pro 13-inch (Mid 2010). I have two HP LA2205s. When I connect #1 – it gives me the 1680x1050. But, when I connect #2 – it’s max resolution is 1440x900 for both “best for display” and it’s the largest when I select “scaled”.

It’s option two. So the way I am connecting to #1 (the one showing 1680x1050) is just the simple VGA adapter that goes into the Mac. But, for #2 (only showing 1440x900) I am using a USB DisplayLink ioiogear adapter. Maybe this is my problem? The graphics for each monitor is "NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB graphics”. How do I see how much VRAM I have?

How exactly do I do that?

Look up the device ( I searched for it using my favorite search engine) and locate the specifcations. I do not know which IOGear Display adapter you are using. The ones I saw for VGA were good to 1280x1024.

Did you try just one monitor at a time?
