When a user changes the password for their exchange account will that change automatically sync with the iPad or do you have to manually change it in the email settings on the device?

Manually. Actually, if things are working right it will try the old password, realise it doesn't work, then put up a little window asking you for the password. But I'm not perfectly sure it does that correctly.
