When I boot up holding the option key, this screen pops up

I enter my password and hit enter, nothing happens. I click the button to the right, nothing happens.

I want to boot from my Snow Leopard installation disc that I got in the mail, because I want to install it. I had problems with a flashing folder with a question mark in it, which is why I wanted to restore.

What can I do?

Put the SL installation disc into the computer. Restart while holding the c key down. Release the key when you see the Apple logo.

That will boot the computer from the SL disc, and you can proceed with the OS installation.
