I have .avi file, so I downloaded and installed Flip4Mac program. But this file is still not opened.

Flip4Mac handles wma and wmv files, not AVIs. Try installing Perian; it works in 10.8. AVI is a container, not a format, and some AVIs can't be played in Mac OS X.

First of all, I thank you.
After installing perian, the file is recognized in QuickTime Player.
But still the file is not played. When I moved the time bar, the scene is changed according to the playing time, but it remains where it is, not playing.
While I open this file through Flip4Mac, it played but soundlessly.
I adjusted sound of system preferences but it did not work.
Help me.. Thanks again.
Try downloading and playing it in VLC Player (free) from here
