Q: Aperture requests my serial number each time I open it

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro and OS - it's now 10.7.5 - and my version of Aperture seems to be the latest version - 3.4.4  Now, every time I load Aperture, it demands my serial no., name, etc.  Is there a fix?  From skimming the Apple site, it seems that version 3.4.3 was supposed to correct this problem.

Thanks you.

Thanks for replying Thomas.  I checked out the link and looked here as suggested:

"Go to the Folder /Library/Application Support/ProApps and move the file ProAppsSystemID"

But there is no such file there.  I did a search for the file, but to no avail.  Any other ideas?

    Thanks,

    Stanley

    Stanley,

just to be sure  - you looked in the System Library directly on your MacintoshHD and not in the Library in your Home folder?   And the ProApp System ID is missing?

Sometimes Aperture writes this file to a temporary directory, when it cannot write to the Library. If the above does not work, look at the temporary directory /tmp

    • Use the Finder's "Go" menu

Go > Got to folder    and  enter /tmp into the textfield. If you see the file there, move it to its proper location in /Library/Application Support/ProApps

    Regards

Thanks very much! The file was indeed in the /tmp directory.  I moved it as you advised, now things are fine.

    I appreciate the help!

Sorry, I meant to give YOU the points for solving my problem, not myself.

Never mind the points. Sometimes the wrong post will be marked, if you still have a window open, where you are typing an answer, or if you just posted an answer. Did you?
