I charged my new Ipod 5th gen for at least 6 hours, and there is still a little gap of space to the right of the green battery symbol?

I take it off charge and the little white one in the top right corner is full, whats wrong?

- Let the battery almost fully discharge and try fully charging again.

- Then see:

iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

Okay i think i'll try those, but i have let it die completely before charging it again. And i just want to mention as well that after charging it for so long, i used it in bed for like an hour before going to sleep. Just listening to music and using a messenger app, then i locked it and went to bed, woke up and then checked the ipod, the battery was on red. I've checked the settings and everything is the same as my ipod 4 and my ipod 4 has never done that

The short of time dos not bode well

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I've found something interesting out, i plugged my ipod into the xbox to charge it through that because i got off the computer, so i decided to see if the green battery symbol would change if i plugged it in there. So i plugged it in and there was no change, so randomly i decided to unplug the cable from the ipod and turn it around and plug it in the other way, and when i did that the symbol changed to a fully charged one this time, so i unplugged it, switched the cable around to the way i had it and plugged it in again the same way i had it before and it still had the fully charged battery symbol, so i let it charge on that for a good few hours. And then i turned my xbox off and then on again (i forgot to do something on it) and i noticed there was a gap again, so i unplugged the cable from the ipod and plugged it in again and it changed to the fully charged symbol and stayed like that while i unplugged it and plugged it in again a few times . It seems like i would have to plug it in, unplug it and then plug it back in to get that fully charged symbol? Im gunna have to test this out for the next few days and see if the ipod battery isnt on red when i wake in the morning
