I wish someone had told me because I have been printing to a an HP 6500 which has no WiFi capability without any problem.

The printer can be connected to the router via a wired ethernet connection. As long as the WiFi capability on the router is enabled, the printer should appear as an Airprinter on your iPhone or iPad. The wireless printing is via the router and not direct with the printer.
