Apr 20, 2013 11:03 AM in response to AdrianSaladbarby Demo,Try rebooting your router and cable modem - or whatever you are using for the internet connection. Unplug them from power for about 30 seconds and then plug them in again.

Apr 20, 2013 11:16 AM in response to Demoby AdrianSaladbar,Says the same thing even after rebooting the router. Is there a way just to bypass this activation part?
-
Apr 20, 2013 11:30 AM in response to AdrianSaladbarby Demo,Unfortunately you cannot bypass activation. The iPad has to be activated in order to work again.
There are no reported outages in the Apple services in the U.S. and I can connect to iTunes just fine. Have you tried disabling your firewall and antivirus software - if you are using a PC and want to try iTunes again?

Apr 20, 2013 11:44 AM in response to Demoby AdrianSaladbar,No luck. On the iPad it says it is connected to iTunes but on iTunes it says it couldn't complete my iTunes Store request and that the store is temporarily unavailable.

Apr 20, 2013 11:46 AM in response to AdrianSaladbarby Austin672,Try rebooting your network (modem, router, etc.) plug everything back in starting with the modem then to router and see if that works.

Apr 20, 2013 12:03 PM in response to AdrianSaladbarby Demo,This is a long shot, but you have nothing to lose now and this doesn't hurt anything. Reboot your iPad. This shouldn't matter, but I just wonder if the iPad is sending "mixed signals" to iTunes.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Apr 20, 2013 12:14 PM in response to Demoby AdrianSaladbar,Rebooting it didn't work either. The weird thing is that before when I would plug in the USB cable into the computer iTunes would usually pop up and sync, though now with this problem iTunes won't open. iTunes only opens when i manually click on it with my mouse.

Thats because the iPad is not activated now and there is something preventing the activation process in iTunes. When you start iTunes, do you see the iPad under the devices heading? I'm guessing no.

Apr 20, 2013 12:34 PM in response to Demoby AdrianSaladbar,Oh, that's why lol. But yes under the devices heading I see the iPad.

Apr 20, 2013 12:39 PM in response to AdrianSaladbarby Demo,Bear with me. I'm trying to take this step by step. What happens when you click on the iPad under the devices heading?

Apr 20, 2013 12:44 PM in response to Demoby AdrianSaladbar,No worries, I'm willing to try anything you say. When i click on the iPad a window pops up that says "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." and if I close that it shows me a blank page with the word iPad in the middle of it.

Apr 20, 2013 1:01 PM in response to AdrianSaladbarby Demo,I'm grasping at straws here and wracking what is left of my old, tired brain.... Are you running the latest version of iTunes... iTunes 11?
You have you tried activating over WiFi?
There is a very slim chance that the activation server is down, but that is very slim. Are you in the U.S.?
-
Apr 20, 2013 1:04 PM in response to Demoby AdrianSaladbar,Yes, I am running on the latest version of iTunes
Yes, I have tried activating it over WiFi
And yes, I am in the U.S., New Jersey to be specific.
