iPad could not be activated

Recently updated it to iOS 6.1.3 and going through the activation it says that the iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. I've tried connecting the iPad to iTunes but it says the iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Is there a fix to this?

My theory is that the iPads are both 2nd Gen. The UDID on Apple's side might be somewhere else and the server might see that there are two devices with the same UDID, but on different OS's, there is only a 0.0000000000001% chance of that happening, though.

So, if you cannot connect using the Wi-Fi on the iPad. Try plugging it into your PC (or Mac). If both of those still don't work try restarting your Wi-Fi connection (router, modem, etc).

It turns off because the device isn't allowed to run in-registered. If you've tried plugging it in, using a different router/wireless device, and have tried to restore from your computer then going through that window again. Take it to the Apple Store where they should be able to fix it there, or you could just use their wireless to setup the iPad..

Hey folks

Tried EVERYTHING mentioned on this chain

I have a IPad 2 when suddenly gave me the "iPad need activation" screen

Two or three post past , I person posted the advise to

Plug into you computer

If you iTunes find your iPad , good

Then head boot - sleep and home button till apple logo BUT still press down for 10 sec or so till you see the iPad recovery window on your computer

It will download the update.. it took ages, be patient (mine too 30 min plus)

Then follow the prompts

If it does not work ... repeat above steps .. mine worked on the second go

Good luck and thank to above person who suggested this :))

Unfortunately you cannot bypass activation. The iPad has to be activated in order to work again.

There are no reported outages in the Apple services in the U.S. and I can connect to iTunes just fine. Have you tried disabling your firewall and antivirus software - if you are using a PC and want to try iTunes again?

This is a long shot, but you have nothing to lose now and this doesn't hurt anything. Reboot your iPad. This shouldn't matter, but I just wonder if the iPad is sending "mixed signals" to iTunes.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

The weird thing is that before when I would plug in the USB cable into the computer iTunes would usually pop up and sync, though now with this problem iTunes won't open. iTunes only opens when i manually click on it with my mouse.

Thats because the iPad is not activated now and there is something preventing the activation process in iTunes. When you start iTunes, do you see the iPad under the devices heading? I'm guessing no.
