Formatting error in DVD Studio Pro

I have been using DVD Studio Pro for years. Suddenly I'm getting the error: The recording devise reported the media error: Unknown devise error. My process is I import a video from Compressor and click Build/Format. Error occurs as Formatting begins. I'm on version 4.

DVD Studio Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Version 4 (4.2.2) is the latest DVDSP release…and unfortunately is the last.

Can you output as a disk image? If you can't, I would clear out your preferences; usePreference Manager from Digital Rebellion.

If you can make an img, I would suspect hardware…specifically. the optical drive.
