How do I update the software on my itouch 4th generation my itunes on the computer is up to date but if i try to install anything on my itouch it tells me to update the software. How do I do this

You need iTunes 10.7 or later. If you have a Mac that requires OSX 10.6.8. One updated, you can synce with OSX 10.5.8 if you have iTunes 10.6.3
