iBook g3 10.2.8 WiFi error- "There was an error joining the selected AirPort network"

I have an old iBook g3 10.2.8

Wheen i try to connect to any kind of WiFi network, i get the error after i put in the password-

"There was an error joining the selected AirPort network"

Is there anything I can do to get it to connect to my Linksis B/G/N router, (i've already -

  • rebooted router
  • rebooted iBook
  • forgotten network
  • removed and reinstalled AirPort card
  • messed around with router settings)

The Airport card is a PC24-H, from 2002-ish

Thanks a lot!

iBook, Mac OS X (10.2.x) , thanks a lot!

Hi, what encryption is the Router using?

Older Aiport cards may only do WEP, or some WPA, but not WPA2.

If you are doing 802.11b, the best you might be able to do is WPA, but not WPA2. An 802.11g card is needed for WPA2. For older stuck with an older card, I strongly recommend geting an ethernet wireless bridge with 802.11g or better, unless you are in an area where security doesn't matter within 1500 feet (approximately 500 meters).
