No, it is because the Windows Support Software servers are slow and unreliable. Search this forum and you'll see hundreds of posts indicating that.

Apr 21, 2013 10:12 PM in response to MiJoDoby rtheb,If you do not have a FAT formated USB installed in one of the USB Ports the Download hangs where you have it in your picture.
I was playing around with OSX 10.8.4 Beta and decided to try and download the Windows Support Software just for my own knowledge.
I didn't bother to prepare a FAT formatted USB Flash Drive as I thought the Windows Support Software would be saved to the Desktop or in Downloads...
WRONG!
After waiting endlessly for the Windows Support Software to move from the 50% mark I decided to STOP the Download.
I then prepared a FAT formated Flash Drive with Disk Utility and left it attached to the USB port.
I then restarted the BootCamp Windows Support Software download again.and selected my new Flash Drive as the destination.
Had to verify with my password and the download started.
Just after the 50% download I was again asked to enter my password and after that BootCamp burned the Windows Support Software to the Flash Drive in about two minutes.
So it appears to not be an Apple Server problem after all but rather a viable FAT formated destination Flash Drive attached to the computer to complete the Windows Support Software download.

Jan 5, 2014 1:58 PM in response to MiJoDoby carnuts55,I have the same issue. I am running a late 2011 macbook pro with lion 10.7.5 and bootcamp 4.0.4. Is this my problem. On the apple software download site it says I need bootcamp 5.0 or higher for a macbook pro like mine. This is totally confusing and the most frustrating thing I have ever done on a computer. I am currently trying to download the windows support software with a USB fat32 installed and it seems to just be sitting there. I have to have windows to run 1 specific program.
