have you tried multiple chargers? If the issue persists with multiple chargers, the issue is at the iPhone.

Try connecting it to iTunes and see if it's recgonized there.

Also, here are some other steps:

1. Try doing a hard reset:

Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.

2. If that doesn't solve the issue, backup the device and restore it as new.

In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137

NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.

If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions

If you're not able to restore the device, you should use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

Using that last article will erase everything on the device, so make sure you have a backup!

NB: If you're not able to restore the device at all with any computer, it defenitely needs a hardware repair.

Good luck 🙂

try with another charger or restoring with another computer. If that doesn't work, the iPhone might need hardware service.

If your phone is at three percent capacity, iTunes won't recognize it, it needs at least 10% for that.

Try backing up the device at Settings - iCloud - Storage and backup - Turn on iCloud backup - Backup now !!!!

Let's keep it simple. FIRST, if it is less than a year old it is covered by warranty, so you can take it to any Apple store for replacement. Make an appointment.

As you've tried different chargers and different cables the only other user-serviceable component is the dock connector on the bottom of the phone. Inspect it with a magnifying glass for dirt, moisture, debris or a bent pin. If it's dirt of some sort clean it with a dry toothbrush or wooden toothpick. If it's a bent pin you can try to straighten it, but probably better off just exchanging it.

So now i am aware of what has happened. My friend touched an exposed wire to the usp side of my charger cable wtrying to extend the range. the exposed wire is from a old charger. But the cable was also plugged into my phone. Im not sure if it caused a short circut or what but im not willing to get a replacement phone. I would pay for repairs on this one

My phone wont charge AT ALL.
