Don't know who "they" are, but they are misinformed, and warranty does not cover lost or stolen property so you will have to buy a new one.

Also, it is probably not safe to post your address in a public forum where everyone can see it.

I guess you could enter a raffle or something, but ultimately you are probably going to need to buy a new one. Apple is not obligated to replace it for you, but if you show them your receipt and explain your story, they might feel sympathetic. Just do not go in expecting anything because it is unlikely they will do this, probably because you have no way of proving you lost it.

Icloud has nothing to do with this situation and would not benefit you in any way.

Save yourself some hassle and cash, do not replace the device until you are certain that you are mature enough to keep up with your property.

Apple will not replace a lost iPod for free; trust me on this. They have sometimes replaced a broken one under warranty though it was not officially eligible, but a lost one, no, that's not going to happen.
