After memory upgrade, wifi and bluetooth non existent

Evening

I have a mid 2012 Macbook Pro, purchased in Jan 2013. This afternoon I upgraded the exsisting 4gb ram to 16gb ram, following the instructions provided via apple.

Upon turning the computer back on after installing, I received the "no hardware installed" for the wifi as well as no bluetooth. After resetting the PRAM, ect, it did not fix the issue.

I ended up backing up my mac to my portable drive and reset the laptop. Upon re installing Mac OSX, there is no longer a link in my settings to the bluetooth or the wifi, as if it was never on the machine in the first place.

settings>network only shows ethernet and firewire, and you do not have the option to add wifi or bluetooth.

I have not found anyone else with this issue searching the internet or this community.

Before I bring the laptop to the genious bar tomorrow, is there a fix so I don't have to waste my time? I must use the laptop for school and I will be without it for a full day tomorrow and I am somewhat screwed as of now. Everything else on the laptop works.

Any help would be appreciated!

Bimmer,

I purchased the folliwing:

Qty: 1 CT3373650

Part Number: CT2K8G3S160BM

Price: $119.69

Description: 16GB kit (8GBx2), 204-pin SODIMM Upgrade for a Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch and 15-inch, Mid 2012) System

Line total: $119.69

My brother purchased the same, and his install was with no issues.

I installed the original memory, did a PRAM reset so far, and nothing has changed. The wifi and bluetooth icons are no wherre to be found.

There are no cables detached when the bottom is taken off.

I guess we will be using that Mac 1 year warranty.

before you take it to apple - make sure you install the original RAM.

if you don't, Apple will tell you that the RAM you installed is the problem.

from the part number you gave me - you installed the right RAM made by Crucial for your Macbook.

now, it could also be a bad RAM module. take one out and turn your macbook back on- if problem continues - take the other one out and install the other and turn your macbook back on.

i do however, suggest you install your original RAM and see if problem goes away.

And no, it's not easy to disconnect your wifi/bluetooth cable - it's possible if you were haste in taking the bottom case off but it's unlikely.

good luck with that and hopefully you get it sorted out.
