upload from dropbox to instagram

You can't post from DropBox to Instagram. The app only pulls from your camera roll. You could email the pictures to yourself, save the to the Camera Roll and then post them.

On Android phones, Instagram interfaces directly with Dropbox, so uploads work really easily without needing to e-mail yourself photos and saving them to the camera roll. Would be great to see this on iPhone, but in the meantime it's a point to Android.

Here is a proven method, how you could use Dropbox to upload pics to Instagram:

Mind it, its going to be this workflow - Mac > Lightroom (or iPhoto) > Photoshop > Dropbox on Mac > Dropbox on iPhone > Instagram

Steps:

1. Get a dropbox account first on their website; have it installed on Mac (via downloading .dmg from dropbox.com) as well install dropbox app on the iPhone (via iphone app store). Dropbox is cloud based so what folders/ files you see on Mac wil be same on iPhone app.

2. In iMac, open iPhoto or Lightroom, edit those pics you want to upload to instagram.

3. In Photoshop create a DOC of 612x612px, and keep it for reuse.

4. Bring those pics you edited in iPhoto or Lightroom to Photoshop 612x612px, adjust the framing and composition, save as for web directly to Dropbox, in a new folder with your choice of name (e.g XYZ 1).

5. In iPhone app, inside the Dropbox app, go to folder XYZ 1, and open each pic in slide view mode and save each one by one to your iPhone gallery.

6. Now that you have the pics in your iPhone gallery, you can upload to Instagram.

The above may seem a lot of steps but I do it everyday, just 3 photos a day as I prefer, so I dont feel that much stress and pain, but truely it is a long process. I am looking for a APP that will fit on my MAVERICKS from where I can organise all pics, edit them and upload directly to Instagram. Shortly I will try an app from BLUESTACKS.com, lets see if it works!

I think the Loom app might make this easier...seems it does what dropbox doesn't. Lets you upload to Loom from your mac, then post FROM loom to instagram on your ipad or iphone.

Seems like a better solutin than dropbox. They need to get with the game.

Alas, Loom has joined Dropbox and is no longer around.

So Instagram has a new Ap called "Layout" that looks like it will import photos from your Dropbox folder, if not then "Rocket Speed" is on it with the right solution.
