Mail does not support that; FWIW, not too many recipients would actually allow it. I, for one, would not - hence, unless a recipient allows it, having it set up will be of no use.
You don't. Mail doesn't support it.
This is not a great solution, and I don't know if it still works: http://email.about.com/od/macosxmailtips/qt/et_request_recp.htm
It sets a read receipt for all outgoing e-mail. You can't pick which messages have a read receipt.
Most e-mail clients either do not respond to the read receipt, or the person has turned that function off.
Mail does not respond to read receipts.
The simplest way to add the functionality of a read receipt is to add a short message to the beginning of the message body, such as:
"Hello, while I understand this is an absolute invasion of your privacy, my life will be unalterably worsened if I do not get immediate confirmation that you have read this e-mail."
"Hello, while I understand this is an absolute invasion of your privacy, my life will be unalterably worsened if I do not get immediate confirmation that you have read this e-mail."
