The server returned the error: Mail was unable to connect to server “pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com” using SSL on port 993. Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct. I have been battling this issue for the past two weeks. I have used connection doctor and managed to get one outing smtp up and running. My server is Yahoo.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Hi Ramonago, I had a similar issue with the same providers you have. I added a new account and set it up as a iMAP, as I heard that Yahoo was moving away from POP. It seems to have fixed my issue. Try that and if it works you can delete the old one. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. My outgoing mail seems to be stuck. I have checked through connection Doctor and the smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo and the smtp.mail.yahoo.com are both connected to the server. However I keep getting

the message; "An SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent."

This message reappears whjenever I try to send along with the "Try Later" and "Try with Selected Server" buttons.

Hence the try a new account, click the add button botom left, and follow the prompts. You can try calling yahoo support, but when I tried I got someone who I coud not understand, al I could understand was imap:)

Okay, so should I be deleting the smtp and starting over again with that as well as the imap?

Yes, that's what I did. Write down all the info that is in your current set up. Try adding the new account, plus button follow the prompts and then try it. The recreation seemed to fix my issue, as this is what I did (but I'm not certain if that is what did it) but after it all worked. I had to wipe my drive and when I did the email set up I tried to do it as a POP and it had all kinds of problems connecting and sending/recieving. Then I wrote down all my settings and recreated as an imap and it's worked ever since. Hope this does for you as well, Best
