I see many have problems with Safari 6.0.4 constantly crashing.

I have same issues with 5.1.9 on Snow Leopard.

The thing is that it worked without problems for a day after installation. However since today it crashes constantly. I cannot even load a page when it crashes and quits (see log below). I have not installed any new sofware today to cause those sudden crashes.

Is anyone else haveing problems with 5.1.9? Any sollutions?

    Back up all data.

Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

    ~/Library/Safari/WebpageIcons.db

Quit Safari if it's running. Select

    Go ▹ Go to Folder

from the Finder menu bar. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V) and press return. Delete the selected file in the window that opens. Relaunch Safari and test.

Great! This solved the problem. Thanks a lot!

Is this a common issue with Safari 5.1.x?

I don't know how common it is. It gets reported here once in a while.

Linc, can you explain what that is, and what he does by following the instructions?

If the WebIcons file is indicated in a crash report, it can be trashed and a new fresh one will replace it.  It doesn't affect very many people any more . . .

    It affected me...

I though it was related to 5.1.9 since it happened just a day after update. But it seems older version had this problem too.

    Great fix!

I just installed an SSD hard drive in my Macbook Pro, and ever since, Safari 5.1.9 was crashing on me within 30 seconds of opening - no matter what site I went to.  I didn't even have time to download an alternative web browser.  I thought for certain it was something to do with the hard drive, so I was a bit concerned.

Turns out deleting this file did the trick for me.  However, I couldn't get to the file by copying and pasting that text location, so I manually browsed to it....    .../Users/"username"/Library/Safari/  and delete WebpageIcons.db

Re-launched Safari, and no more crashes!!!

    Thanks Linc!

Odd, I went to the folder and saw no file with that name.
