iphone 3g sim card for canada
I have an old iPhone 3G, in use but no longer under contract. I'll be spending the summer in Canada. Can I buy a SIM card in Canada and install it in the 3G?
Thanks,
Bradley

I've continued to research this and it looks like I need to unlock the iPhone to use a SIM card in another country. Is that a bad idea?
My iPhone is currently locked and running on AT&T.
Thanks,
Bradley
Here are AT&T's official requirements and procedure for unlocking an iPhone:
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/client/en_US/
I don't see any downside to getting it unlocked, if AT&T will do so. What carriers if any in Canada will offer a pay as you go plan for the iPhone I don't know, but someone else here probably will.
Regards.
Thanks for the link, Varjak ... I'll see if there are any pay-as-you-go plans for iPhone in Canada ...
This article looks like it discusses it -- though it's from a few years ago:

OK ... two-thirds of the way to an answer:
1. I can have ATT unlock my iPhone 3G
2. I can find options for pay-as-you go plans
3. The remaining question is which of those four carriers my ATT iPhone 3G will work with ... or maybe it's all of them because the phone is tri-band?
Thanks,
Bradley
