This is now June 2014 - but I am now having the same problem that you are. I have my Gmail account set up on my Apple ID account but I am no longer receiving any/all emails from Apple - this includes my PW resets and any iTunes purchases I make (actually - I cannot confirm that part because I haven't made any real purchases in a very long time from iTunes - I will test that). I also keep getting put into a "stuck loop" to reset my PW which again generates another email that I never receive but additionally eventually my PW does wind up working and I do wind up getting into my Apple ID account including the Community Forums..........so I am confused as to how to get this fixed and where to post my problem on the Community Forums.
