all of the help I see on how to turn on home sharing for my iPad say something about going from settings>iPod>home sharing. My iPad does not have an iPod app. I can't find out how to complete the home share feature from my iMac to my new iPad.
If you have setup home sharing on the Mac and you are sure that you did it correctly - on the iPad go to Settings>Music>Home Sharing and sign into your Apple ID. Then go to the Music app (iPod app was in earlier iOS)and tap the More button at the bottom and you should see "Shared" and an option. Tap that to share the iTunes library on the Mac.
You setup home sharing for videos the same way. Settings>Videos>Home SharingA>Apple ID.
iTunes must be running on the Mac if you want to home share.
