Sync error - not enough free space

I cannot sync from my mac to my ipod. I get an error that there is not enough free space. I look at the setting in iTunes and see that my ipod has ~ 13 GB of free space. I have deselected many songs in itunes already. What do I need to do?

iPod touch, MAC OS 10.8.6

- See:

How to sync music to your iPod when your library is bigger than your iPod storage space

Make sure that you still do not have the box(es) checked to synce your entire library

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Unsync all music and resync

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Once I got on the Apple community, I looked at other similar questions and respones. Based on that, I did end up restoring after trying other suggestions. It took me a few times, but then it worked. I think what I had done wrong in the past (based on what I read on other community discussions) was not properly releasing/ejecting my ipod after syncing. Sounds like that causes an issue with file space. Don't know. Either way, after unselecting many songs & retroring, I was good to go. Thank you!
