network printer sharing dymo

Trying to install a dymo labelwritter 450 Turbo between my Imac 27 and sharing it with my Mac Mini. The printer is actually installed on Imac27 and works properly. When I try to add this printer on the Mac Mini by using the print & Scan in the system Preference. The process begins and I get a message telling me that it can not download the drivers.

If I try to load the dymo printing application I get message it can not find the printer even when running the network printer utlity. I have the sharing perference on the imac27 set to sharing this printer.

Has anyone got sharing to work with dymo printers?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Hi George

I have the lastest software from Dymo and it does work with my Imac27, still can not get it to work as a share printer to my mac mini or mac notebook. The sharing process try to install the software on the Mac Mine/Notebook, but you get a message saying driver is not available for download from the server.

Not sure what to do next, any help is appreciate.

Retreading your original post, it sounds like you're trying to add by using the print-scan pref. that won't work. Go to the Dymo website on the mini, find the driver for your Dymo labeled, download it and open it on the mini. Now go to prefs on the mini and click on the plus sign bottom left. That should allow u to add to ur list of printers . Open print sharing for this printer on both machines and it should work. U have to have the driver from Dymo on both machines!

I done exactly what you indicated, the problem after installing the driver and app for the Dymo on the Mac Mini, you get a dialog box indicating that you can search for a network printer but it does not see the unit on the Imac27. I also tried to add the printer using the system Preferances on the mac mini, when selecting the dymo printer for the list of printer nearby it begin a scan and a message says it can not download the printer driver at this time. Even though I have installed the application and drivers on both machines. The problem must lie somewhere in the sharing setting for the printer on the Imac27 related to the Dymo. I get the same problem if I try to do the same process using my mac notebook. The sharing problems still only related to the Dymo printer. I am able to share another HP Lazer and HP deskjet printer for all machines.

I am not sure what to do next, I may need to contact Dymo technical support to see if they have any expierence with this type of problem.

Thanks again for you relpies at least I know you were able to setup this printer for two machines using the shares

After you install the driver from Dymo go directly to the Print & Scan pref in the main System Prefs undea the Apple top left of the screen. Click on the + and pick out the Dymo in the pop up menui. If you don't see it choose Add Printer and you should be able to find it. Click on it and you should be ready to go. I assume the Dymo is connected to the other computer. And if everything is on the same network, turned on and not asleep, you shouls be able to print.
