I just purchased the Del U2412M monitor. I have a new Apple MacBook retina 13 inch computer. I connected the monitor with an HDM I to DVI cable. The monitor works but none of the information on my computer is showing up on the monitor. What do you think the issue would be?

I'm sorry about that. There is an obvious connection because when i open the display icon with "System Pref's" it shows up on both the laptop and monitor but when I access lets say "Safari" or any other program it only comes up on the laptop and is not showing up on the monitor. I ordered a lightning - DVI cable, maybe it's the connection right now the connection is being made with a HDMI - DVI cable. I hope that explains it a little better.
Chef, The computer and monitor seem to be connecting, after you connect, in system preferences>displays, click the arrangement tab and make sure mirror displays is checked. Hope this helps, Best
Thank you, I finally noticed the mirror box to the left. I was looking for that option in the pulldown menu at the bottom of the screen and all it was showing was my apple tv's. thank you so much for the help.
Chef, Glad this worked for you, also in system preferences>displays there is a check box for show displays in the menu bar, if you check that one it will place access to the display preferences there with a drop down menu so you don't need to go to system preferences for basic functions of display.
