I bought a new apple ipad mini a week back and i found sound is muted in some applications where as songs, videos and youtube are working fine. please help me out.

In Settings > General > Sounds, are all categories turned on?
Do you have the sound volume bar at a high enough level?
Are you sure Mute is not turned on, double click the home button, swipe to the right, check the speaker symbol at the left side.
Having same problem, YouTube and music works but apps sound don't, including the videos on Facebook. Tried rebooting and checked all sound settings but nothing works. I can only hear app sounds when I have headphones plugged in. HELP!!!
If everything is turned on, rebooting doesn't help, and the issue is some/not all apps, a visit to an Apple store genius bar might be in order to have the techs see what is going wrong. They have diagnostic tools we mere mortals don't have access to.
