Q: Mainstage MIDI latency problems
I'm attempting to use Mainstage (the latest version) for triggering sampled guitar parts in a live situation. I'm using the 'Playback' plug-in that comes with mainstage. However I cannot get rid of a nasty latency from when I hit the MIDI controller until the sound comes out. It makes it unusable. I have trimmed the samples to begin exactly at the start and the latency does vary. I have altered the buffer settings and this doesn't semm to make any usuable difference.
I have a Roland PK-5a MIDI Foot Keyoard plugged into a Focusrite Saffire Pro AD/DA Audio unit and then into my MacBook Pro Retina 16gb 512gb flash 2.7ghz i7.
Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Playback is for backing tracks, but not for triggering samples. It has a significant latency (which allows it to have a very low CPU load). To trigger samples, you can use either the EXS24 or UB, which are designed for this kind of use.
