and have love film and i bout an av lead to connect to the tv but it isn't working can someone help me please?

It's the lead with the three colours and a USB end aswell and when I put them into the tv nothing at all shows
This good be a backwards compatibility issue
You mean Yellow, Red and White??? Or Red Green and Blue?
How are you connecting them to the Tv?
If its not an Apple product it may not be compatible with the iPad.
Also component or composite cables are not compatible with Mirroring so you would need to be using an App with actual video output capabilites to see anything on the Tv.
Try opening the Videos App and playing a video form there.
