Can I have my iPad iCal display start the week with Monday?

My iCal weekly calendar starts with Sunday. Can I change it to start with Monday?

Sadly my iPad doesn't have anything called Calendar Preferences and I can find nowhere to change the first displayed day of the week. I've set it to Monday on my iMac but it seems determined to stick with Sunday on the iPad. I'm sure there's a historical reason for that but like the rules about cloven hooves, fish on Friday and the burning of witches at the stake it would no longer seem relevant. Thanks for your suggestion.

Peter,

Your first post did not mention that your question referred specifically to your iPad.

My instructions applied to the desktop version of Calendar, and the iCloud.com Calendar App. It appears that only the desktop version of Calendar, and the iCloud Calendar App version of Calendar are capable of displaying the week view which starts on Monday.

I was sidetracked by the fact that your question was in the Application>iCal Forum, which relates to the desktop version of iCal/Calendar.

There is just so much confusion in these forums about where to post a calendar question.Throw in some application name confusion (iCal/Calendar), mix it with a dash of version confusion (iOS, Desktop, or iCloud), and add a little OS X Big Cat spice and anyone can be fooled. 😁

Hi Peter Best1, I found if you set your iPad's Region Format (Settings->General ->International) to a country that traditionally lists the weekdays starting Monday, you can have it that way.

Hindsight: your date will show in that language on all displays on your iPad. German, Hungarian, French (almost all non-English European countries, and some others...). But makes it fun🙂

Yes. As logicrules posted above, the calendar display - either Monday first on the left (in week or month view) or Sunday - is governed in the International / Region settings.

And you needn't worry that you'll be required to brush up on your Hungarian. Just choose 'United Kingdom' - however be mindful that this may also then influence how dates are displayed in some apps - in the UK/Australia etc. we use a short format date of DD/MM/YYYY versus the US/China/Japan/others of MM/DD/YYYY. Although with the ipad user interface, most date selections are done consistently with the pop up wheel option, so no issue.

As logicrules states above, the region settings seem to determine the iCal display on the iPad, however if you change to something other than your current region then you will find other subtle and frustrating problems start to surface such as the default google search being the wrong country. If for example like me you are a UK resident currently working in New Zealand, then changing region settings to New Zealand helpfully sorts out the safari search bar going to www.google.co.nz but screws up the calendar view in iCal and visa versa. I haven't yet come across a solution for this and would be very interested to hear if anyone knows of one.
