Skype Upgrade on Mac Air

Am not able to upgrade my skype software to the new version. Every time I download and install the application , it works fine ., but when I switch off and switch on my computer , it reverts to the old version. Please help resolve the issue 😕

Mac OS X (10.7.5)

How did you upgrade the skepe? Can you cross checked from the application folder whether application is upgraded or not.
