I have a MacBook A1181 from 2008 which has a CD burner, but not DVD burner. For the last 6 months I have been able to play movies or view files previously burned to disk,but I have been unable to burn anything to a new disk, i.e. I have many photos I would like to burn to a disk, but there is always an error which prevents me from doing this. Suggestions?
First off, unless you swapped something, your MacBook can burn DVDs and CDs, but most disks are only able to be written to once, then you can't burn anything else. Use a completely blank DVD-R and try it.
Since your Macbook originally came with a combo drive instead of a super drive - you can not burn anything on DVDs.
You need to use CD-R or CD-RW to burn your pictures in.
Combo drives can only read DVDs and not write to it but can write to a CD-R or CD-RW

In the past I have been able to write to CD-R and CD-RW no trouble, it is just recently that it won't work (with new discs). I'll try and buy a new disc and see how it goes. Thank you.
