iPad 3rd gen 32GB or 4th gen 16GB?

I'm in a dilemma.

My budget gives me a choice between the iPad 3rd gen 32GB or the 4th gen 16GB model. Both are Wi-Fi only, which is fine for me.

What would people recommend? Should I go for the faster CPU or the bigger storage?

Until it was recently stolen I had a 16GB iPad 2, and while I wouldn't say I had loads of space, I got by with it just fine. But I'm guessing these newer models will need more storage.

Any thoughts/suggestions/opinions welcome.

Where are you going to buy an iPad 3? Apple doesn't sell them anymore. Buy a refurbished 32GB iPad 4 at Apple's on-line store. A refurb is cheaper than the new one, but has a new screen, back and battery and the same 1 year warranty.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

Tom, cheers for the links. Very helpful. You've answered your own question: I had already decided to buy refurb - 3rd gen iPads are available on the refurb site, and the refurb price for the two models I mentioned originally is almost identical. The refurb 32GB iPad 4 is an extra £80. I don't have it, or, believe me, I'd follow your advice.

Cheers anyway,

Bruce

I agree with Tom.

Please goolge problems with ipad 3 - overheating, battery life, wi-fi connections, etc.

If you're upgrading from an ipad 2, I suggest you skip the ipad 3 and hold out as long as you can until you'll have saved enough to buy an ipad 4.

For an extra ₤80, and it is a lot, if you can save ₤10 per week, you can get it in eight weeks. Do you have any gift cards you received as gifts or from returning items to a store after the return period that you can sell to friends/family for face value or a little less so they'll feel as if they're geting a bargain? Do you have a birthday coming up where you can ask family or friends to subsitute an affordable amount of cash and have it ahead of time?

Try to be creative in your search.

Hope this helps.
