New ipod shuffle dead?

I purchased a brandnew ipod shuffle a month ago, and I was very happy with it until yesterday;

I hooked up my Shure headphones at the dentist's and heared one millisecond sound and then nothing. I thought I just forgot to recharge it for too long and thought nothing of it until I got home : it doesn't charge, the lights doen't go on and it doesn't connect to itunes either.

My ipod touch does all of the above, so it must be a hardware failure with the shuffle.

I don't have the receipt anymore because I never thought I might need it...what happened???

If it's only one month old, Apple will probably go by the serial number on the shuffle. You can check the serial number here

This shows where the serial number is located on a shuffle

Also, you should connect a different set of headphones to confirm the problem is the shuffle, and not the Shure headphones.
