Experiencing 'rolling glitches' on my iMac 27 since last update of OS X 10.8.3

Any suggestions other than turn it off, turn it on again?

Running with G Drive and only programs bought through the iStore, and I am able to turn off the computer and restart it and get on with my work.

Initially it was acting up on every program but I just kept working and it was getting around the problems. That may not have been a good idea.

I am having problems with cross linking, I am an artist and it takes about 4 changes on a file before I can use it. The usual crop, resize, change to png, save as a program files for future adjustments and the png into the folder that needs it.

Endless interruptions that I cannot avoid can cause me to misfile, misname, I have smart folders and a special sort on the All My Files. I noticed if I turned that off, most of the problems cleared up. Is that the source of the problem?

I could use some help, I came from the wonderful world of Windows, and it is a bit of a transition. I don't run Windows on my fabulous iMac. This iMac is the most incredible, marvelous, ingenious, admirable thing I have ever used. So I kinda figure if there is a problem it would most likely be an operator problem. %^}

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode. Shut down the computer and then power it back up. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
