I don't have a pairing code. where do I get this from

Thanks. I came upon this before I asked my question and unless I'm missing it this doesn't answer my question.

I am aware of syncing, luckily it's easy enough for dummies.

I never had to use a code until I tried to Inc with apple tv. it is asking for a code I do not have and do not know where to locate it.

thanks for anyone that can give detailed instructions regarding my issue at hand, not the action of syncing.
